Welcome to the website of the Leiden University team of 2019 to the Vis Arbitration Moot!
For the tenth time, a team from Leiden University will participate in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court in Vienna, Austria.
The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is the world’s largest moot court competition in the field of international commercial law. In 1993, 11 universities from 9 countries took part in the first Vis Arbitration Moot. Nowadays, it has become a fascinating event for the worldwide law students.
The goal of the Vis Arbitration Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for the resolution of international business disputes through its application to a specific client problem, and to train tomorrow’s law leaders in alternative methods of dispute resolution.
Thanks to the generous support from our sponsors and coaches, Leiden University team has made a distinctive progress over the years. Last year, our team got the 1st place at the Plesner Pre-Moot, and the Memorandum for Respondent ended up in the top 9% of all 362 participating teams in Vienna!
The problem of the 26th Vis Arbitration Moot has been officially released, and Leiden University has already formed a competitive team for this year. Before pleading in Vienna, our team members will take the opportunities to engage in a number of “pre-moot” practices against other domestic and international law schools.
